Our team is growing!
We’re looking to hire a full time studio potter. We care about having a happy crew here and want everyone to feel valued and satisfied in the work that they are doing. Its also important that each member of our team is highly self motivated to create excellent work and to maintain efficiency and attention to detail. We value community and teamwork and always welcome ideas to improve our processes and systems here in the studio. We care about taking care of our bodies, especially with such physical work, and love to listen to books on tape and take dance breaks!
Our studio is small and we currently have a team of three. We’re located in the heart of NW Portland, just a few hundred feet from the streetcar line and several bus lines. We’re also only a few blocks from Forest Park, with more than 30 miles of forested trails right in and around the city.
Time commitment: 30-40 hrs per week with flexibility in working hours (once trained)
Pay: starts at $15/hr
We may be filling two positions, one more focused on throwing/wet work and another more focused on glazing. This is flexible.
Throwing (multiples with accuracy/precision), trimming, making handles with the extruder, attaching handles.
Glaze prep (using reed wax, tape, vinyl stencils, underglaze), brush work, glaze dipping and touch up.
Packing work for shipping and for local retailers.
Studio maintenance, cleaning, upkeep. We all take part in this work!
Please email Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org to introduce yourself and share a resume. Thank you!
We ware excited about finding a great fit for this position! If you are an experienced studio potter and interested in moving to Portland, we’d love to talk to you about the city and what its like to live here! If you would like to talk with one of our current studio production assistants about their experience, Sarah can connect you.
